The swimming pool chemicals are one of the most popular way to sanitize the pool, besides physical cleaning up. 1. Sodium hypochlorite or the popularly known bleach – this compound of chlorine is different from what is used for beaching of clothes. Though it is a highly effective swimming pool chemical for sanitization, it is known to cloud the water and lasts for a maximum of 2 hours under the power of the UV light. Hence, you should this type of sanitation chemical only as SOS – when nothing else is available.

2. Sodium Trichlor – This chemical is usually found in the form of tablets; it consists of 90 percent chlorine. This type of chlorine can be used with the automatic feeders because it needs continuous (flowing) water to be dissolved; and since it is already stabilized, this compound will last longer than any other chemical you chose. You will find that the tablet is much more potent in sanitization than any other method, yet. Its strength is almost 7 times that of bleach, which makes it ideal for large pools.

3. Sodium dichlor – this is a class I oxidizer and quite safe when compared to the use and handling of the other chlorine-based swimming pool chemicals. This compound will stay active for around six hours because it adds cyanuric acid as a stabilizing agent; in this way, it stays active up to six hours in the direct line of the sun.

4. Calcium hypochlorite (Cal hypo) – this compound provides 65 percent of chlorine, and needs a stabilizing agent since this compound tends to disappear very quickly. The drawback with using this type of sanitization chemical is that it can explode if stored incorrectly.
